Learn How to Bake by Considering These Simple Steps

Step 1. Gather all gadgets that you need in baking

bread panbaking pans for breads (12" x 14"): Must be flat. Others call it cookie sheet

cake panbaking pans for cakes (9" x 13" x 2"): Used for rectangular cakes and brownies

muffin panmuffin pan 2 oz. 12 holes: Used for rolls, muffins and cupcakes

loaf panloaf bread pan 9" x 5" x 3" : For loaf breads or loaf cakes

round cake pancake pan 9" : A round pan with 2" thickness for round celebration cakes

tart moldtartmold 3" : For fruit desserts such as fruit tarts

pie moldpiemold 9" : For pies such as apple pies and shepherd pies.

cheese grater : Ideal for grating cheese, carrots, ginger & etc.

dough cutter : use for cutting various doughs

rolling pinrolling pin : For rolling doughs and pastry doughs

food thong : For hygienic purposes. For holding food products instead of bare hands

measuring cup (pyrex) : For measuring liquids i.e. water, eggs, milk & other liquids in ml., oz., and qtz.

measuring cups : Used for both dry and liquid ingredients and also if the recipe calls for a cup measurement.

measuring spoonsmeasuring spoons : These are available in a standard size, making the measuring of small amounts more accurate.

mixing bowlmixing bowls 13" round buttom :Various sizes of bowls with rounded sides make mixing easier and are useful when baking.

pastry brush : Used to eggwash the dough, for brushing excess flour and used to coat baking pans with grease.

pastry roller : A handy gadget that rolls through the dough such as pastry and pizza doughs

rubber spatularubber spatula : Because they are so pliable, spatulas are useful for scraping all the cake mixture from a bowl.

scissor : For cutting underliners, dried fruits and others

sifter : For sifting flour making cake more lighter in texture, and to remove lumps from confectioner's sugar or cocoa powder.

weighing scale (gms) : For good, consistent results, ingredients for cake making require precise measuring.

wire whiskwire whisk : use to whisk ingredients or creaming ingredients such as sugar, butter and eggs

wooden spoonwooden spoon : Used to mix ingredients.

cake tester cake tester : Insert tester or skewer into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean the cake is ready.

flours: All-purpose flour, cake flour and bread flour.

baking powder : A raising agent used for cakes.

instant yeast : A raising agent used for breads and can be mixed instantly to flour.

butter : For a soft texture. For breads and cakes

sugar : you can increase or decrease sugar according to your taste preference

salt : To balance the taste of sweetness... use iodized salt

eggs : It gives great softness to breads and cakes.

skim milk powder : For a better taste, you can add it to your bread recipe.

cocoa : For a chocolatey taste, add to the cake recipe.

vegetable oil : For a lower fat recipe, you can use vegetable or corn oil.

shortening : Another alternative fat that can be used for a bread recipe. It can also be used for greasing baking pans.

fresh milk : Add to the cake recipe instead of water for a more tastier cake.

vanilla essence : For a flavor effect to your cake batter.

creme of tartar : Add to eggwhites when creating a meringue for your chiffon cakes
